Topic 5: Saving energy and light bulbs

Aim - Make a circuit

Equipment - clip wires , battery , voltmeter , switch and lamp station

Method - Use clip wires and connect the clip wires to the battery and lamp station

also try to connect the switch to the lamp station.

Result - We tried using our method but it didn’t work so we got help from Mrs Shammer.

We got help from Mrs Shammer because we couldn't control the lamp station with the switch.

You can touch a Led light bulb when it is on because led bulbs produce

less heat.

Led bulbs are made of elections 

Leds can be found anywhere such as you computer , microwave etc any thing the

produces light has a led.

Led light bulbs can last 15 years of longer 

A led bulb has the same shape as a incandescent bulb.

Science Topic 2 :Plastic

For topic 2 we got given a few pieces of paper and we had to sort it out.
We had to sort out the strips of paper in positive,negative and neutral.
We also learnt about the different types of plastic we had
biodegradable plastic , reusable plastic and compost plastic etc.Before we went to
our science class we got told to bring plastic.We later used the plastic in a experiment
we had to sort the plastic in 7 different groups which represent the different 7 symbols.

1. Plastic bottles (water,soft ,drinks,cooking oil)
2. Milk containers,cleaning agents,shampoo bottles,bleach bottles.
3. Plastic piping , vinyl flooring , cabin insulation ,roof sheeting 
4. Plastic bags ,food wrapping (eg.bread ,fruit ,vegetables)
5. Bottle lids,food tubs,houseware,medical,rope,automobile parts
6. Food takeaway containers,plastic cutlery ,egg tray
7. Water cooler bottle ,baby cups ,fiberglass.

My group had to sort all sorts of different things  into the 7 different groups of symbols.

Task description:For this task we got given a few numbers that you can see in bold.We had to put the numbers in order from smallest to biggest.

WALT:Build Decimals using Materials

Task description:For this task we had to watch the video on the first slide.After we did that we had to put a decimal number in a decimat. After we put the decimals in a decimat we had to write the decimal as a fraction.I overall enjoyed this task and learning how to use a decimat.

Reading

Task description:For this task we had to read a text about Matariki .Then we had to write down what we know,what we knew and what we learnt.This task was very interesting because we learnt new things about Matariki.

Biosphere 2

Task description:For this task we had to watch a video about Biosphere 2 .After we watched the video we had to write a summary of what is biosphere 2.Then we had to answer a few questions that was on the whiteboard.I really enjoyed this task and learning about how scientist tried to recreate earth.

Special Assembly

Today was another special assembly.Today we had a special assembly because and we had two special visitor their names where Joseph Parker and Elizabeth Parker. If didn't know who Joseph Parker is He a professional New Zealand Boxer.He came to deliver a motivational speech to Pt England School he told us the most important things that he learnt in well being a boxer.The first thing he said was "believe in yourself"He said that if you want to do something you have to believe that you can do that thing.The second thing he said was "Nothing beats hard work" That means that when you work hard for something, it'll pay off with your personal life, your career and other things that you can name.Then after that we had Duffy certificates and him and his sister help hand the certificates out.Then next  thing that we did was we sang a Matariki song .We were all new to the Matariki song but tried our best to sing along with the choir.Then Mr Burt reminding the main notices of the assembly and then we ended our assembly.
