Art Expo
Today the whole school were lucky enough to have our own art expo.Everyone in our school had a chance to enjoy each others art works.Everyone in our school had to create a piece of art to display for everyone else to see. I really enjoyed this experience because I had the opportunity to see everyone's art and to read what their art work was about. In My class we drew a portrait of our self then we coloured it in with colours that will pop our art is inspired by the famous portrait of Merlin Monroe by Andy Warhol. My overall favourite piece of art was Mrs Stone's because her class painted their own version of the starry night by Vincent Van Gogh.

Writing - Kate Sheppard
Kate Sheppard
Kate Sheppard is well known for a women's suffrage movement protest. If you do not know what Kate Sheppard looks like she is on the $10 on New Zealand currency.Kate Sheppard was born in Liverpool England but in 1868s she moved to New Zealand.Kate Sheppard was born in March the 10th 1847 and died 13 July 1934 at 60 years old.
Why / What in her time
Kate Sheppard decided to protest in her time because she thought that it was not fair that women were not allowed to vote. She also did not like the fact that everyone treated men like they were more superior than women.Kate Sheppard got tired of women being treated worse than men so she decided to protest.
What she did
Kate Sheppard spent 6 years going around New Zealand and talking .Kate Sheppard also wrote articles and newspapers. Then she began to get people to sign her petition. In the end she had about twenty five thousand signatures.
The effect of the protest
This protest helped women above the age of 18 in New Zealand to have the right to vote. This also helped people to treat women more fairly. This also helped women to stand up.Women's rules were less strict.
Conclusion
In Conclusion the petition was successful because she had around ¼ of New Zealand women to sign the petition. In 1893 women got the right to vote and New Zealand became the first country to allow women to vote.Because of this protest you can see Kate Sheppard on the $1o note in New Zealand currency.

Are cows bad for the environment
Are cows bad for the environment?
Brainstorm / planning
1 . Cows fart and burp and they release mathen into the atmosphere and make more greenhouse gasses.
2. Farmers use fertilizers to help their grasses grow to feed cows and the fertilizer can go into water bodies and make algae grow.
3. Farmers also chop down trees to make more space for their farm.
4. Cows waste can go into water bodies and can be a substance and contaminate the water.
Are cows bad for the environment?
When was the last time you ate a dairy product or a hamburger?Well if you didn’t know we are eating more meat then we ever had.We are also breeding more and more cows to eat and to milk especially in New Zealand. Some of the reason cows are harmful because they are very flatulence , they need lots of grass so farmers use fertilizer , Farmers cut down trees to make more space for cows to eat.
Cows are very flatulence
Cows are very flatulence which means they fart and burp a lot.The reason this is bad is because when cows fart and burp it releases a gas called methane.Methane is a greenhouse gas and the more greenhouse gasses we have the hotter the world will be.
Farmers using fertilizers
Farmers using fertilizers is bad because when it rain the fertilizer on the plants or grass can go into water bodies. If fertilizer goes into water bodies it can make algae grow and if algae grows it will cover the top of the water bodie and it will make it harder for fishes and sea animals to live.It will also make the water dark and then more and more bacteria will grow.
Farmers cutting down trees
Farmers cut down trees to make more space for their cows. This is bad because trees absorb carbon dioxide and we are cutting down more and more trees which means now we have less trees to absorb carbon dioxide. This is also a greenhouse gas which means the greenhouse gasses are getting thicker and making the world a lot hotter this is also making sea levels higher.
LINK / CONCLUSION
This is why cows are bad for the environment because they take up space which means farmers have to cut down trees , they also need a lot of grass which means farmers use fertilizers and cows are also very flatulence which means they release a lot of methane into the atmosphere. Some people don’t eat any cow or dairy products because they understand that cows are bad for the environment. Now would you consider eating less meat and dairy products?
Solutions
We could breed less cows
Eat less dairy products and meats
If we breed less cows we can use the rest of the farm places that the farmers are not using to grow trees

Why do we need school?
-To learn
-To get a job
-To socialise/learn to get along with each other
Why do we need school?
Introduction:Have you ever wondered why we need school. In New Zealand people from the ages 5-18 have to attend school.School is a place where people from the ages 5-18 can go to learn, to get a job and to socialise/make friends.
Body paragraph 1:To learn
Children go to school to learn. At school you can learn about all sorts of things such as reading, writing ,maths and so on.At school you can use the skills you learnt at school everywhere. Here's an example when you learn maths you can use your maths skills at the supermarket to calculate how much your groceries cost. The things you learn at school will not only help you at school but also at everywhere else so that's one of the main reasons you need school.
Body paragraph 2:To get a job
Going to school will help you to get a job. When you go to school you can learn all sorts of things and the things you learn at school will help you to get a job.For an example if you wanted to be a builder you would need to be really good at measuring so at school you can learn how to measure in maths. At collage teaches will help you take subjects that will help you for your future courier. This is also an important reason we need to go school.
Body paragraph 3:To socialise/learn to get along with others
We need to go to school to socialise. At school you can learn how to get along with others and to make friends. When you start school at 5 years old you are not really good at making friends and getting along with others but when you go school it can teach you to do these things.
Conclusion:School is really important for these reasons to learn , to get a job and to socialise. If we did not go to school we wouldn't really know how to do certain things and we would mainly not know how to socialise.

The Battle of the shark and the Octopus
The Battle of the Shark and the Octopus
One day there lived a god called Takuaka he was one of the gods from Fiji.Takuaka was a guardian of the reef he spent most of his days turning into a shark and challenging the other guardians of the reef.He would always win all the fights he got into so he was fearless. One day he found out there was a new guardian of the reef at Kamatuv’u islands. He didn’t waste no time he went straight to Kamatuv’u island in a shark form. When he got to Kamatuv’u islands he saw a huge octopus but that didn’t scare him. While they were fighting they made massive waves causing the rivers to overflow. The octopus used its tentacles to strangle Takuaka. This caused Takuaka to admit to defeat Takuaka was begging and begging for the octopus to let go.”Let me of me and I promise that I won’t harm any people for the rest of time “.Takuaka kept his promise and to till this day people in Tonga can go to the ocean on not be harmed by any sharks.
